Australia now has more crypto ATMs than El Salvador
The number of cryptocurrency ATMs in Australia has increased significantly recently and is now higher than in El Salvador, where bitcoin is legal tender. Spain and Poland have also surpassed El Salvador in the number of such machines. Growth in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs in Australia
The number of cryptocurrency ATMs in Australia has increased significantly over the past few months and now exceeds the number of such machines in El Salvador, where bitcoin is legal tender. Moreover, Spain and Poland have also surpassed El Salvador in the number of such machines. According to Coinatmradar.com, the largest number of cryptocurrency ATMs are located in the United States, Canada and Spain - 33,950, 2,649 and 273 locations, respectively.
Australia in 4th place
The difference between these countries is huge. Australia is currently in fourth place, with 0.6% of the total number of cryptocurrency ATMs in the world, or 225 machines. Most of them are located in Melbourne (65), Sydney (48) and Brisbane (33).
Poland with 222 cryptocurrency ATM locations

El Salvador ranks sixth on a list of 212 countries for the number of crypto ATMs
El Salvador currently ranks sixth on a list of 212 countries in terms of the number of crypto ATMs. Most of them, 28, are located in the country's capital, San Salvador, with another 25 in the city of Santa Tecla. The remaining ATMs are spread out in various locations in El Salvador. In 2021, Bitcoin was recognized as legal tender in the country, a move that drew criticism from cryptocurrency skeptics and opponents both inside and outside the country.

The Salvadoran government also decided to install some 200 ATMs to promote Bitcoin adoption, which allowed it to rank third in the world in terms of the number of such devices, after the United States and Canada. El Salvador has since been overtaken by Spain, Australia and Poland in terms of the number of crypto ATMs.
"Reports last August suggested that Bitcoin ATMs in El Salvador were "empty" just a year after they were launched. El Salvador currently ranks sixth on a list of 212 countries in terms of the number of crypto ATMs, while Switzerland ranks seventh with 155 such devices.

It is worth noting that Australia has recently seen a significant increase in the number of crypto ATMs, with 49 installed in the first few days of this year, and 33, 31 and 35 added in December 2022, November and October, respectively."
"Each of the last four months has been a record in terms of the number of crypto ATMs installed in Australia, with the total number of ATMs installed during those months reaching 148, which is 64 fewer than the number of ATMs installed in El Salvador.

There are currently about 38,611 such devices installed worldwide, of which 94.4% are in North America, with 86.9% in the United States and 6.6% in Canada. Europe has 3.9% of ATMs, and Asia has 0.8%. There are 0.6% in Oceania, 0.3% in South America and 0.1% in Africa."
Spain is Europe's "ATM capital" with 0.6% of machines, followed by Poland, Romania and Switzerland with 0.4%. South America's leaders are Colombia and Brazil, with 0.1% each.
Meanwhile, in Africa, South Africa comes out on top with 19 machines, representing less than 0.1%. In second place are 3 ATMs in the United Arab Emirates and 2 in Nigeria.

Data as of January 1, 2023 shows that there are 92 fewer crypto ATMs in the world than before. Nevertheless, the last two years have seen a significant increase in the number of such devices, especially since the beginning of 2021. According to the service, the top 10 operators operate 67.8% (26,177) of crypto ATMs, while the remaining operators operate 32.2% (12,434) of such devices.
